“Variability and Scale in Psychiatric Neuroscience: How You Seek Determines What You Find”
SOBP President: David Lewis, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine
2021 Program Committee Chair: Leanne Williams, Ph.D., Stanford University
2021 Associate Program Chair: Theodore Satterthwaite, M.D., Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania
The 2021 SOBP Annual Meeting will be held during the dates listed on Thursday, April 29, 2021, through Saturday, May 01, 2021. In response to the continued growing number of COVID-19 cases and the myriad of travel restrictions and travel bans of our member states, countries, and organizations, the SOBP Council has made the decision to move the in-person conference to a virtual experience.
The 2021 SOBP Annual meeting will provide an interactive platform for learning and discovery. The meeting program will focus on alternative and transformative frameworks for understanding psychiatric illnesses, and present enhanced and newly emerging tools for measurement and manipulation. Within these frameworks and with these tools, techniques and experimental designs are illustrated that can enhance understanding of psychiatric illness and elucidate the biological pathways and markers of illness processes.
While scientific quality is paramount, this year the committee will also prioritize symposia proposals that are composed of diverse participants and that address diversity in scientific topics as indicated in the following diversity statements:
Diversity in Participants
Symposium participants should include scientists and/or clinicians who are women, underrepresented minorities, and/or individuals with disabilities. In addition, symposia should attempt to include individuals who are at an early career stage.
Diversity in Scientific Topics
The SOBP strongly supports diversity in the scientific topics of symposia and seeks symposia that address important understudied factors (e.g., sex- and gender-based analyses, vulnerabilities and treatment gaps for minority populations, etc.) in psychiatric neuroscience.
Allscientific submissions have closed.
Embargo Policy: Any press release issued by a presenter, the presenter’s employer, or any other outside person or entity about a presentation scheduled for the SOBP Annual Meeting must be embargoed until the time and date of the presentation and should be clear that it is not sanctioned by SOBP. This includes any detail of the abstract and the title.
