Advocacy
The Society of Biological Psychiatry recognizes the critical role of advocacy in advancing the field of biological psychiatry and shaping public policy, research funding, and mental health awareness. As part of its 2025-2030 Strategic Plan, SOBP is committed to developing a coherent and impactful advocacy strategy, ensuring that scientific advancements translate into meaningful societal benefits.
A key component of the plan includes formalizing partnerships with like-minded organizations to amplify SOBP’s voice in public discourse and policy development. In this context, SOBP has already joined the American Brain Coalition (ABC) as an Association Member, strengthening its engagement with a broader network of professionals and patient organizations. The ABC is a nonprofit organization representing leading neurological, neuroscience, psychological, and psychiatric associations, along with patient advocacy groups across the United States. Through this collaboration and future strategic partnerships, SOBP aims to enhance its advocacy efforts, influence mental health policy, and promote research that advances the understanding and treatment of psychiatric disorders.
